The trimmer with the largest motor on the market that has grown in popularity over the last few years is the rolling weed machine. Although it is the fastest one out there, its functions are more limited, because the 4-stroke motor uses oil in the crankcase. This attribute makes for a more difficult climb up slopes. While its speed is its greatest asset, this slightly diminishes the accuracy of the weed trim. It is not as straight and neat as the performances with the other two trimmers would leave.
Different brands of weed trimmers have different strengths. Various products are made with specific features in mind. The consumer needs to decide which features are best suited towards their terrain, workload and physical capabilities.
Some may prefer one which ensures a lightweight product and easy maneuvering, while another wants heavy-duty durability for a large and rugged tract of land. Ways to haul equipment are another issue. Some have handles that can be adjusted, while others are standard. Investigate the power to its weight ratio. Depending on what job needs to be done should determine what type and what style is probably needed.
Proper maintenance of this equipment is important. A scrub with water and dish detergent once a season works to remove dirt and grease. String should be replaced with a fresh spool as needed, and the fuel tank should be emptied before storing it away at the end of the season. The oil should be replaced if the spark plug is black upon removal.
